Easy to make French Toast

Breakfast is my favorite meal, and if I could I would have breakfast food all day long. Lately I have been taking the time on weekends to actually make a "real" breakfast! Today's breakfast included fresh strawberries, mandarin oranges, orange juice and homemade french toast.
I found this very easy recipe for french toast on allrecipes.com:

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 12 slices white bread (I used whole grain instead and it tasted great)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Add the milk, brown sugar and nutmeg; stir well to combine.
  2. Soak bread slices in the egg mixture until saturated.
  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Brown slices on both sides, sprinkle with cinnamon and serve hot (you can also sprinkle powdered sugar, Michael suggested whipped cream)
This recipe is originally meant to serve 12, so I scaled it down for 2. Be careful to not saturate the bread too much or else it will fall apart before you can get it on the griddle. And here is the final product :)

  1. I made French toast for the first time two weeks ago and used this recipe! It's a winner.
